General Thoughts of Week 9
How Will The East Be Won? - Halfway through the season, 3 teams sit at a tie in the NFC East. The New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins all sit at 5-3. Even the Dallas Cowboys (who sit at 3-5) are not out of it just yet. This past week, the Giants loss in a divisional matchup against the Redskins (38-24), which opened the door for the Eagles to tie the division also. Philadelphia was able to pull off a 38-29 win over the Boys, creating a 3-way tie in the NFC East. It will be very interesting to see how this division unfolds over the next 8 weeks.of

General Thoughts of Week 9
Saints On The Straight and Narrow? - Over the past few weeks, we've seen the Saints pick up a big win, but then take a loss the following week. Granted these have not all been easy games for the Saints, and they are doing all they can to stay in the playoff hunt. This week, they picked up another big win by defeating Seattle Seahawks 27-24 to go 4-4 on the year. Vince Young threw what ended up being the game winning 49 yard TD to Reggie Bush in the 4th quarter. The Saints are a good football team, no doubt about that. It seems though that consistency may be holding them back from being a great football team. There's no doubt in my mind that if they can work on consistency, they will be an even more dangerous team in the UFL. I feel they can do it.
Are The Jets Under The Radar? - To me, it seems like that's the case. Looks like nobody is really talking about the Jets, who are one of the elite teams in the UFL right now. As a matter of fact, this team is tied with the pleasantly surprising 7-1 Denver Broncos for the #1 spot in the entire league. They Jets were also 5-0 before suffering their first and only loss of the season, which was to a talented and up & coming Baltimore Ravens squad. The Jets are still a force, and maybe they enjoy the focus not being on them. I guess I kinda ruined it for them by typing this, huh? (Sorry Bombs, lol).
Race To The #1 Pick? - Halfway through the season, some teams are just hoping the other half of the season goes by fast so that they can put this all behind them. The Chicago Bears (0-8), New England Patriots (0-8), St. Louis Rams (1-7), Tennessee Titans (2-6), and the Kansas City Chiefs (2-6) would be the Top 5 if the draft started today. The Bears and Pats are still looking for that first win of the season, the Rams haven't won since Week 1, and the Titans and Chiefs are putting together some late season wins. It will be interesting to see who get's that #1 overall pick in the draft come 2014. Who knows... it might not even be the 5 teams listed above. It will all depend on how the season turns out.

Receiver of the Week:
Santonio Holmes - TEN
5 Rec. 206 Yards, 1 TD
The Rodgers-to-Holmes connection looks to be finally coming together, as for the 2nd straight week Santonio Holmes wins the Receiver of the Week award. With 206 yards and 1 TD on just 5 receptions, there's really no arguing this one.Santonio Holmes - TEN

Defender of the Week:
Ernie Sims - PHI
6 Tkls, 1 Sack, 1 INT
Ernie Sims had a solid overall performance. Not only did he get tackles, but he got a sack and an INT. For this reason, he slides by Buffalo Bills LB Paul Posluszny for the Defender of the Week award.Ernie Sims - PHI
