I'm really feeling MLM and I like the idea of using it ... even if I gotta throw in some change to help us get it going.

The league manager sounds pretty good... I wouldn't be opposed to using that, but I'm content with our system as well.

I'm all aboard for either method. I wish they'd just quit dropping the damn ball and institute a in game salary cap like they used too.

wish to ea in one hand and shit in the other....you get the idea...lol. But in all seriousness, the mlm looks to be pretty cool. Would def take the user error out of our cap calculations and save the commish's a ton of time. More time for other goodies....i couldnt hurt. But either way, we do have a pretty badass system set up on our own that has worked for a couple years just fine.

Re: Madden 12 Online Franchise...
Like I said before. I'm not willing to give up on what we have already put together as far as salary cap structures and all that. I'm not even saying we need to use a different system, I'm just saying that League Manager gives us that option.
It also gives you the option to set up a POINTS BASED salary structure just like the one we currently have. Players 90-99 = 10pts and so on.
I simply brought it up as an alternative to Frank having to make a google doc for the entire league. If we use MLM all frank would have to do is "sync" the rosters every now and then on MLM and it would do the rest. It would say how much cap room each team has and it could give us player contracts if we want that as well. It could also give the players a "personality" thats not currently in the Madden game itself. What I mean is, with MLM, some players may chose to hold out based on they last seasons performance, and then the team owner/user would need to decide -
"Is that 88ovr DE who had 15sacks last year really worth the 16pts he's asking for?"
That's where I think MLM could shine for a dedicated league of owners like this one. It just adds that little something that's missing to the online franchise...
Now if there was only a way for us to RANDOMIZE the draft classes!!! C'MON EA!!! HOW HARD IS THAT TO DO, REALLY??? With them being synchronized in every single online franchise, that completely kills any sort of surprises come draft day. Its stupid, that you know exactly how good every player is and is going to be before you even draft him...

Yes it does do that.
If I remember correctly, its during the Re-Signing period and thats when you will see what they "want"

Correct. The player's demands will be based on their performance the year prior. If they had a good year, their demands will be that of a player of similar caliber.CeeGee wrote:If I remember correctly, its during the Re-Signing period and thats when you will see what they "want"

XFN is doing this too...I'm gonna wait to see what Vince is doing before we settle on one or the other.

Re: Madden 12 Online Franchise...
Sounds good sway.
I knew Vince was doing something similar and I'm not trying to say MLM is 'better' I'm just going off of experience from last year. Last year MLM was a better managing tool (although it had some bugs), while Vince's site was more about articles, stat tracking and content. I'm not saying one is better than the other.
I feel like I'm offending you by even suggesting we use MLM over XFN lol.

Re: Madden 12 Online Franchise...
XFN looks good, but it is nothing more than a stat tracker and a forum. MLM is for league management so it would be difficult to compare the two services.
There is a clear difference between the two as MLM is a league manager service while XFN is talking about being a league manager service. MLM has had a couple years to work some kinks out, but every system will have their glitches. XFN on the other hand doesnt have the ability that MLM has and hasnt had the time to work kinks out. At this point where we are almost a month away from madden 12 release, xfn hasnt mentioned any solid developments for a new managing system and if and when they do, it will in pilot mode with some glitches....It would be doubtful that xfn will be able to finish a fully developed system. I could be wrong and xfn does have a full system ready to go, likely there will be some glitches...

I like the work Vince has done compared to LM. Although right now LM offers more I want to see what Vince does before we commit to LM.

Honestly we could use both. We could still use XFN as sort of a Home Page for the site. Post stories and all that. If we don't like the League Management System that XFN comes up with, we could always use MLM for that aspect of our franchise. I don't think we need to fully commit to one or the other as using both to their strengths might be the best option.

Re: Madden 12 Online Franchise...
Sway, the selling point for my league was that MLM has direct communication and access to EA and their servers. Vince does not. I worked with vince to help provide input for his franchise mgmt development of his program. I'm not sure how far he has gotten, but MLM already has their features in place. Nothing against Vince or his work because he was very good to us as well. Just letting you know why we're going in the MLM direction...
