BTW Ant - it was a lame attempt to pretend like it was a lobby issue

First off, this isn't a witch hunt Foed - me and Cards were talking about it afterwards and we just happened to agree to disagree and we both wanted to post it on the forum to get feedback.

The reason I made it hypothetical is only because I didn't want people to just vote one way based on who the owners were...the owners identity because obvious by his own volition. Very Happy

I agree with Foed that it's an owners choice what he wants to do and we should not take that choice away from him but at the same time, making play-calls outside the realm of real football is worth debating...my hope with all of this is basically to eliminate it from happening again by showing it's clearly something that will annoy others.

I think that point has been proven...no matter who thinks it's sim or un-sim.

Now if we want to talk about unsim play, that line drive punt that everyone seems to do these days....

i do the short kickoffs, i dont see nothing wrong with that...teams have squibbed or kicked it short away from returners like donte hall, hester, etc...

With the ridiculous amount of returns for tds in this game, it is a way to prevent returns. Definitely not unheard of in the NFL

If we want to talk about kickoffs, i dont see it realistic that anybody can take their return man middle of the field and draw every defender and then spin out to the outside...ankles should be broken and the AI should be smart of enough that it is coming since its done all the time..

I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about when someone tries the line drive punt so you don't have time to fair catch and fumble.

so something that never happens in the nfl is being defended while something that happens in the nfl is lame? Makes sense...

looks like someone wants a chance to run one back...

Should have scored and played defense in my opinion...on offense following the score I would have kept it fairly vanilla, unless I got a good return. I am not one to try to give up two scores before the half.

Damn next we are going to allow people to run goalline on 1st and 10 on the 50.

This is exactly how I view the situation Nrenard. You score and then trust your defense to stop the other offense. If I would have been in that situation, I would have tried to manage the clock before I would get to the 1 yard line. If that's what happened, then I don't see why you need to use more clock by kneeling it. I think this situation doesn't qualify in a "gentleman" league.

    My .02 cent.

I see nothing wrong with tactical kicking. What I have a problem with are the opponents who boot the ball as high as they can so that the coverage team converges on the secondary return man and levels him as he catches the ball in attempt to force the fumble. There's a difference between kicking away from a player and using the kickoff in an "unsim" fashion to take advantage of the AI. Similar to that of the boneheads who bring their return man inward to draw the coverage team in, and then bounce out to the outside with a clear path down the sideline to the end zone. But I digress... this topic is about kneeling at the goal line, not the return garbage.

I don't think you are both on the same page here. I've played Jack and what he is talking about is different than what you're talking about. Kicking it short to avoid the return specialist (what Jack is talking about) is fine by me, but I agree with what you're talking about (trying to force a fumble with the kick) is un-sim.
