Introduction
Welcome to Year 4 of UFL Wagering. As seems to be the trend, a new year seemingly brings in a new person running the show in terms of our betting forum. One thing I can promise is this year I will be sure to stay on top of things and ensure that lines are posted on time & that everything will be run all regular season and into the play-offs. At the end of the year the top 3 money winners will be awarded badges acknowledging this. Stay involved all year long & you could be a winner!
Information
Here's a quick run down of what you can expect with this year's wagering.
1: Weekly spreads for all games (except where a substitute is used).
2: Weekly over/under options for all games (except where a substitute is used).
3: Weekly parlay options for those seeking higher risk & higher reward.
4: Weekly prop bets.
Here's a quick run down of standard rules that will be used for our betting this year.
1: You may only bet on yourself against the spread (meaning when you are an underdog). This also means that you MAY NOT bet on your game's over/under option or any prop bet involving your team or player(s).
2: All bets must be submitted before each game is played. Do not attempt to bet on a game that is played or being played. If you are found to be doing this, you will be banned from betting.
3: If you are unsure of how a bet works, please view the examples and/or ask questions. Bets need to be posted properly to be considered valid.
4: This year we will be doing something different. For each original write-up/column each owner writes throughout the year, you will be given $200 toward your betting wallet. This DOES NOT include your required game reviews. To be credited your $200, you must post in the appropriate forum [ https://ufl2.forumotion.com/t45-post-additional-content-links-for-bonus-here ] with a link to your column. Once reviewed & approved by myself as a valid submission, you will be awarded your $200 to your betting wallet. Collaborative writings are valid submissions also, however they will be judged to determine if the collaboration is worth $200 per person or to split the $200 amongst all writers. This will come in handy in terms of the year-end badge winners as well as a way to earn more money if you go broke in betting.
5: You will not allowed to be in the negative at any point in time.
6: Please do not edit your posts.
Explanation of Betting Options
Betting w/ spreads: Spreads are posted as a negative number (-) or positive number (+) along with a number to identify the "spread" for that game. A spread is the amount of points that need to be covered in order for a bet to be successful.
Example:
Green Bay (-4.5)
Washington (+4.5)
In this example, Green Bay is favored against Washington by 4.5 points. This means that if you bet on Green Bay to cover, Green Bay would need to win by at least 5 points for your bet to be a success. Alternately, you can bet on Washington (+4.5) and for your bet to be successful Washington would have to win outright, or lose by fewer than 4.5 points. So if the final score was Green Bay 27, Washington 24...a bet on Washington would be a winning bet and a bet on Green Bay would be a losing bet.
Betting on the Over/Under: Over/Unders are listed beside the spread. This is the "projected" combination of the final score of both teams. You do not bet on a specific team in over/under betting. Instead you bet on the total combined scored of a specific game.
Example:
Green Bay (-4.5) (Over 61)
Washington (+4.5) (Under 61)
In this example, the Over/Under is listed at 61 points. If you bet on the over, the combined score must be 62 points of more for your bet to be successful. Alternatively, if you bet on the under, the combined score must be 60 points or fewer for your bet to be successful.
Parlays: A parlay is when you bet on multiple games on one ticket in order to receive higher payouts. This is truly a high-risk, high-reward trade-off. In a parlay, you select how many games you will bet on, and each wager will have to be won for the parlay to win for you. The more matches you include in your parlay, the higher the payout will be. However, keep in mind, even if you win some of your matches & lose just one, your bet will be a loser. You must win ALL matches on the parlay ticket for the wager to be a success.
Parlay Multiplier Amounts: (Subject to Change)
2 Matches: 2.25
3 Matches: 3.25
4 Matches: 4.25
5 Matches: 5.25
6 Matches: 7.25
7 Matches: 9.25
8 Matches: 12.25
9 Matches: 15.00
Example:
Green Bay (-4.5) (Over 61)
Washington (+4.5) (Over 61)
Buffalo (+13) (Over 45)
New York (A) (-13) (Under 45)
San Diego (+2.5) (Over 80)
Arizona (-2.5) (Under 80)
____________________________
4-Match Parlay Ticket: $1000 Bet
Green Bay -4.5
New York (A) -13
Buffalo vs. New York OVER 45
San Diego +2.5
____________________________
For your bet to be a winner, Green Bay would have to win by more than 4.5 points, New York (A) would need to win by more than 13 points, Buffalo vs. New York would need to score more than 45 combined points, and San Diego would have to win outright or lose by fewer than 2.5 points. If all four outcomes are true, you will be a winner. If even one doesn't win, you lose the entire parlay bet. Assuming the parlay is a success in this scenario, with our $1000 bet and the payout multiplier of 4.25, you would receive your $1000 bet back, plus an additional $4250 (per the 4.25 multiplier).
Prop Bets: A prop bet is a bet on a certain situation or outcome unrelated to the final score. This can be anything from how many touchdowns a player will score to which player scores first to whether a team will be scoreless for a certain quarter. This can literally be anything. All prop bets will pay the standard 100%.
Example:
1: Minnesota vs. Seattle: A. PETERSON (MIN) Scores 2+ Touchdowns
2: Denver vs. Oakland: Oakland Scores 1st Field Goal
3: Tampa Bay vs. St. Louis: A. TALIB (TB) Fewer Than 1 Interception
These are just a few scenarios as to what prop bets may look like this year.
With that said, please let me know if you have any questions. Please keep in mind that all rules are subject to change at any point in time. Other than that, have fun & good luck this year, everyone.
